Summary Time, Boys and Girls

A reasonably complete and brief summary from Molly Ivins of how we got to where we are, with North Korea getting ready to rain bombs on my chicken-little head. Not, as I've said before, that I actually think that'll happen, of course.

Summary of the summary : f--k Mr Bush, nice and slow.

I wish I had your assurance, my friend. North Korea seems more threatening than Iraq any day, and not just because I know your ole butt is too-close-for-comfort to the danger zone. To my mind, there are so many variables - the nuclear capability being the most obvious. Why does Bush feel the need to bait North Korea when its obvious that they are as mule-headed as he is, and smarter, with less to lose? A scary fookin' combination of circumstances... I'll buy ya a drink when it's all over and you're safe. OK?

It seems to me that all the North Koreans really want is some heat and a couple of hot meals, country sized meals. Bush shuts off the fuel oil, N.Korea starts up the power plants again. Would it be simple enough to just send the North Koreans some fuel oil from Alberta? Probably not but oh how I wish it were that simple. Why can't we all just get along?

  3. I think you're right in every way that's important, Mitch. And I'll take you up on that drink offer, Tiz. *begins plotting ways to turn this geopolitical crisis to his advantage, and cadge more free drinks*
