This morning, Korean television news reported that Bill Gates had been shot dead by an unknown assailant.
The ‘news’ grew out of rumour in Taiwan, apparently. How it made it to the national networks in Korea is anyone’s guess. But I was really upset, and surprised at myself for feeling so bad about it, at least until I heard an hour or so later that it was complete bollocks.
I don’t know why that would be.

  1. Interesting – when I read the above, my first thought was one of “that is awful” (I have not seen any news for 2 days). I guess, despite the fact that most of us either dislike him because of the Microsoft Empire thing or are insanely jealous of his wealth (or both), he is as geeky as the rest of us and we feel some connection. Or, I could be full of shit.

  2. Hi,
I believe the story started in China. This was sent to me by my colleague in Beijing:

  5. That’s right, Googlenaut. He didn’t die.
Sorry if my magical language prestidigitation obscured the truth a bit.
    Or not.
Just to be clear, ‘complete bollocks’ equals ‘not true.’

  6. Hi there!
I know its a joke right! he can’t be dead, he is alive, but i haven’t heard of him for a while now, but he is the richest man in the world right, may be some people out there are jealous of that.
    God bless him.
